Expect Viking Rap battles in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

When one thinks of Vikings, we think of warriors wielding axes and shields, they are fazed by nothing, they conquer and dominate. What one does not associate them with is Rap music. However, rap battles were an intimate part of viking life back in the the day.

War and… rap battles?

The concept of flyting has been around for centuries. These are the Vikings’ rhyming insult-fights attested to in both historical record, myth, and semi-historical records like the Icelandic Sagas. If that’s not a rap battle, then what is? Since AC Valhalla is all about putting you in the shoes of a nordic warrior, it is highly likely that this will be a part of the game.

According to reports, the main character will have a camp, which can be improved and upgraded, much like the one in Red Dead Redemption 2. The act of flyting could be a vital part in building relationships with other members of your tribe.

These rap battles could take place between Eivor, the protagonist and other warriors or you and your camp members. These are boasting competitions where warriors, often around the table at the mead hall, would playfully insult each other to a rhythmic scheme.

This is one of the most detailed thing that we have heard about the game. Many other things about the game are yet to be revealed and we are eagerly looking forward to it.

So folks, go ahead and brush up on your nordic verses because its going to come in handy in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
