World of Warcraft: Shadowlands delayed from its original release date
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is the eighth expansion pack to Blizzard Entertainment's highly popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft. Shadowlands was announced and made available for pre order at BlizzCon on 1 November 2019.
The game was originally scheduled for a 27 October 2020 release but the date has now been pushed to "later this year". John Hight, the Executive Producer of World of Warcraft, announced the delay in his post on the official Blizzard Website.
Blizzard Entertainment committed on delivering a quality end product
Shadowlands is another game that is being delayed due to people working from home owing to the COVID19 pandemic. Even though John and his team have made significant progress, they still need time for some fine-tuning of the endgame.
John says that while they are ready with the zones, the campaign, the level-up questing experience, and the narrative, they need some more time to polish, to balance and iterate upon some interlocking pieces.
He adds, "However, as everything started coming together and we’ve been listening to and building upon your feedback, it’s become clear we need a little more time for additional polish, and to balance and iterate on some interlocking pieces—particularly those related to the endgame. Shadowlands is one of the most intricate expansions we’ve yet created, and while we’ve made great progress, the challenge of tuning the endgame was compounded by the team having to work from home."
He also adds that Blizzard is committed to quality and they want to take this time to make the best version of Shadowlands and deliver an end product that will live up to the expectations of its fans.
On the other hand, Shadowlands pre-patch will be releasing on October 13. The pre-patch lays a lot of the groundwork for the expansion and includes revamped character leveling, new-player experience on Exile’s Reach, and a bunch of new character customization options.
