Global Esports takes a much-needed initiative to organize a Fortnite invitational in India
Fortnite is the world's most played Battle Royale with more than 350 million players. While there is no information on how many players log in every day or month from India, in April 2018 Epic Games announced that players logged 3.2 billion hours of Fortnite.
India has seen a lack of Fortnite tournaments as the Indian E-Sports scene mainly revolves around games like PUBG Mobile and CS:GO. With the ban of India's biggest E-Sport, PUBG Mobile, due to security reasons, Indians are trying out other games, and games like Fortnite, Valorant and Call of Duty are getting more exposure in India.
Global E-sports is set to fulfill the need for more Fortnite Tournaments in India
The Global Esports Fortnite Cup has a prize pool of $200 (₹15000) and features the Trios Game Mode. This cup is exclusively for those who reside in India. The Qualifiers are scheduled to be held on 12th September and the Finals are scheduled on 13th September
In an interview with Global Esports' CEO Rushindra Sinha, we asked him where Fortnite stood in the Indian E-Sports scene.
He said "Fortnite has a lot of players but since there are no tournaments the Esports scene is ignored, we intend to change that." Speaking about the motive behind organizing this invitational cup, he said "the motive is to cater to the Fortnite audience and players in India because currently no one is doing this for the Indian audience and there is a huge demand from the community."
All in all, this is a great step by The Global Esports organization. They are pushing esports at the forefront, and are creating new avenues for gamers in India.
