PUBG Mobile to return to India soon: reports
Ever since PUBG Mobile was banned in India earlier this year, mobile gaming fans have been asking for a return of the game. In a bid to revive the game in India, several companies are competing against one another.
These companies include Reliance Jio, Airtel and even Microsoft. The goal is to obtain distribution rights for PUBG Mobile within India, which will lead to the revival of the game in India.
PUBG Mobile's comeback?
In India, a country where PC and Console gaming is rather expensive, PUBG Mobile came in and changed the landscape. The game offered and immersive experience while keeping the action of gaming alive right on your mobile. India was also one of the biggest markets for PUBG Mobile.
In this light, there are a slew of corporations battling it out in hopes of obtaining rights to the game, which can then be distributed in India once again.
According to sources, Microsoft and Airtel are the likely candidates for revival of the game. Reliance Jio stepped into the game a bit late, which could be somewhat problematic for them.
Interestingly, Airtel entered the Indian esports scene earlier this year with a partnership with NODWIN Gaming. Microsoft already has a dedicated gaming branch- Xbox. For these two companies, bringing PUBG Mobile to India would be a big opportunity to expand their horizons.
In fact, Airtel, Jio and Microsoft are not the only players who are after the game. Corporations such as PayTM are also actively involved in the process. The goal is to eliminate the Chinese publisher- Tencent Games.
At any rate, the work of these corporations could lead to a much needed return of PUBG Mobile here in India. The ban of the game has not only affected casual players, but the entire esports scene in India, which was budding slowly and steadily.
