PUBG Mobile in talks with Airtel to revive popular battle royale game in India

PUBG Mobile was one of the many Chinese mobile applications that were banned in India, earlier last month. Since then, gamers have been waiting for the game to be resurrected.

A few weeks back, there were reports of PUBG Mobile Corporation being in cahoots with Reliance to bring back the game, but now, reports suggest that PUBG Corporation is in early talks with telecom company Airtel to distribute PUBG Mobile in India.

According to a report by Entrackr “PUBG is in early conversation with Airtel for handing over distribution rights to the telecom giant. This desperation shows that PUBG has been trying hard to get back into the Indian market.”

Sources have also confirmed that talks with Reliance to distribute the game in India through its Jio platform have slowed down and now, Airtel is looking to give the gamers what they want.

Readers must note that earlier, it had become quite clear that the Indian government had no plans to let go of the PUBG Mobile ban. As of now, there is no word on lifting the ban as of yet, as the game was banned under the grounds of being Chinese and 'too violent for certain age groups'.

The Entrackr report also noted that since the ban of the game, PUBG Mobile downloads declined 26% globally in the month of September. This is more or less as expected, because India was one of the largest market for PUBG Mobile.

PUBG Mobile was banned on Sept. 2 in India, along with 117 other mobile phone apps that have ties to Chinese developers or publishers.
