Playstation 5 was initially going to be even bigger than it already is
By now, you probably already know that the Sony Playstation 5 is a pretty big console. Those who have got their hands on the console simply cannot stop talking about its massive size. Now, new information regarding the design philosophy of the Playstation 5 has come to light.
In a recent interview with Yujin Morisawa, the senior art director at Sony, the Washington Post confirmed that the PS5 was originally destined to be even bigger than it already is. Morisawa states "In the beginning, when I started drawing, it was much larger even though I didn’t know what engineering was going to do."
The PS5 has an undeniably radical design
Now that all press images and hardware of the PS5 is out, you are sure to have some opinions on how it looks. No matter what you think, the console does sport a radical design, which is the magic of Yujin Morisawa.
The console was designed by Morisawa to be even bigger than it already is, until the engineering department expressed their disdain at seeing the massive design.
However, the current design is a well thought out design. It allows for optimal air flow, which means that your console runs cool and quiet. In the long run, this is going to be one of the best features of the console.
Months before the launch of the PS5, we got leaked images of the PS5 devkit, which looked nothing like the retail version of the console. It is quite likely that the PS5 would have been even bigger had Sony's engineering department not made a point about it.
At any rate, the unusual design actually helps the console perform well and extend its life cycle, which is a great move from Sony.
