PlayStation 5 Digital Edition: Sony's next-gen console's release date in India delayed

It has come to light that Sony's PlayStation 5 Digital Edition and few select peripherals will not be available during the console's launch in India on February 2. According to a post from a Twitter account, the PS5 Digital Edition, Dual Sense Charging Station, HD camera, and the PS Headset will not be available during the launch window.

This news has been confirmed by IGN India, who verified from their sources at retail and also reached out to Sony via email regarding the same. Sony replied confirming that PS5 Digital Edition and the aforementioned peripherals will be released on a later date in India.

When will PS5 Digital Edition launch in India?

This means that during the official launch on February 2, only PlayStation 5 with disc-drive, DualSense Controller, and the Media Remote will be launched. The new release date of PS5 Digital Edition is not known but an update from Sony is expected soon

Why is the PS5 Digital Edition launch in India cancelled?

Shortage of consoles might be the answer. It's no surprise that PlayStation 5 was one the most anticipated and hyped hardware releases of 2020 and fans flocked to get their hands on the futuristic-looking next-gen console and today, Sony is simply not able to cater to such high demand.

However, pre-orders for PlayStation 5 go live tomorrow in select retail stores like Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Vijay Sales, Sony Centre etc. IGN India also says that some stores will try to bundle games and the PS5 together as selling them separately may be difficult.
