Cyberpunk 2077 no longer available on Playstation store as Sony offers refunds to players
Cyberpunk 2077 finally came out to the public on December 10, 2020. The game was much awaited by gamers, but when it came out, people were disappointed because the game was a buggy, unfinished mess, especially on base consoles such as the Playstation 4 or the Xbox One consoles.
Now, the game has been taken down from the Playstation store, meaning that you can no longer buy a digital version of the game for your PS4 or PS5 console. If you wish to refund your digital copy of Cyberpunk 2077, Sony has stated that that will be possible too.
Here's what CD Projekt Red had to say about the Playstation debacle
The Board of CD Projekt has made a comment on Sony's decision to remove the game from the digital store. They note that "the decision was undertaken following our discussion with Sony Interactive Entertainment regarding a full refund for all gamers who had purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store and want a refund."
At the same time, CDPR officials also stated that they are constantly working on updates and patches which will be rolled out to digital as well as disc versions of the game. These updates will bring about better and more stable performance on Playstation consoles.
Sony had decided to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from their online store for the following reason. "Sony Interactive Entertainment strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store. SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice."
Officials stated that the game will not be added to the store 'until further notice'- which could mean anything. Most likely, SIE is waiting for CD Projekt Red to actually fix the game for base consoles, following which, it will likely be added to the store once again.
