Among Us was played by nearly half a billion people in November

In news that should not surprise you, Among Us had nearly half a billion active users in the month of November. According to a report by SuperData, with those numbers, Innersloth's multiplayer title Among Us became the most popular game in terms of active monthly users.

SuperData says digital games generated revenue of a record $11.5 billion in the month of November itself. According to the report, two biggest contributors were Assassin's Creed Valhalla which released on November 10, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War which was released on November 13. Both of these games sold 1.7 million and 5.7 million units respectively.

Among Us' growing popularity

Amidst the lockdown, Among Us became a favourite among gamers and streamers alike and as a result, the game's popularity skyrocketed. In September Among Us also registered a record number of players over three platforms. Although Among Us does not have in-game purchases, the game did not generate revenue as large as other popular games but Among Us has something that other games don't.

Immersive gameplay, eye-catching graphics, and a mystery element that makes the game such a success. The game was available on iOS, Android, and Windows but recently it was also launched on Nintendo Switch where it became an overnight bestseller.

Among Us also won the Best Multiplayer Game and Best Mobile Game Award at The Game Awards 2020. Developer Innersloth also took this opportunity to announce a new map in the game called The Airship. All of these factors have played a major role in the tremendous growth of Among Us.
