11 upcoming games releasing in 2021 you need to watch out for

2020 has been rough for everyone with the COVID19 pandemic and the global lockdowns that followed. Majority of the people turned to video games for entertainment and video games delivered and amidst all of this, games like Among Us and Fall Guys witnessed tremendous growth.

Many new games were announced for a 2021 release and on the other hand, several games that were supposed to release in 2020 were delayed to 2021 or beyond owing to development challenges faced by development studios. Here are 11 upcoming games that you should look forward to in 2021-

1. Monster Hunter Rise


Monster Hunter Rise is Capcom's upcoming action RPG title and the latest in the Monster Hunter series. Monster Hunter Rise was announced in September last year at the Nintendo Direct Mini and is scheduled to release on March 26, 2021, for Nintendo Switch. Monster Hunter Rise introduces a new rideable companion called the Palamute, four new monsters Magnamalo Aknosom, Great Izuchi, and Tetranadon. A "Wirebug" has also been introduced which will help the player not only to move around, but also to be combined with weapons for special combos.

2. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart


Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is an upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive game developed by Insomniac Games. The exact release date for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is not known but the game is expected to be launched in Q1/Q2 of 2021. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will not only be graphically rich, but it will also feature immersive gameplay with an exciting plot along with several areas to explore and a large variety of weapons and enemies. It has also been confirmed that the game will support ray-tracing and will take advantage of the PlayStation 5's Dualsense controller.

3. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy


Set in the wizarding world of the 1800s, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy is an upcoming action RPG that is being developed by Avalance Software. In this game, you will not play as Harry Potter. Developers have taken this opportunity to imagine the wizarding world before Harry's arrival and deliver something new for the fans. There are some places that you will find familiar but the faces, monsters, and threats you will encounter will be completely new. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy is set to launch sometime in 2021 on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.

4. Halo Infinite


The sixth main title in the Halo series, Halo Infinite was supposed to launch in November 2020 but due to development challenges, 343 Industries pushed the release date forward to Fall 2021. The game was heavily criticized for its lackluster graphics when the gameplay trailer was released back in July but since then, the development team has addressed the issue and made improvements on that front. The game will feature a new multiplayer map, new weapons, and Halo Infite singleplayer mode will mark the return of the Masterchief.

5. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game-Complete Edition


Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game- Complete Edition is set to release on January 14, 2021, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, and Stadia. The complete edition was announced in September by ubisoft and it includes the Knives Chou and Wallace Wells DLC packs. The game will feature a better 2D art style, soundtrack, and overall gameplay than the original Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game that was released in 2010.

6. Hitman 3

Hitman 3 is an upcoming stealth game from IO Interactive that will be launched on January 20, 2021, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia. Players will once again assume the role of Agent 47 and carry out assassinations across new locations like Berlin, Dubai, Chongqing and more. Hitman 3 will make full use of ray-tracing and feature better graphics and improved mechanics than the previous iterations of Hitman games.

7. Farcry 6

Farcry 6 is an upcoming first-person shooter from Ubisoft which will be released between April 2021-March 2022. The game was originally supposed to launch in February 2021 but developer Ubisoft rolled out a statement saying the team was facing development issues and as a result, they had to delay the launch of Farcry 6. Like in the previous Farcry games, players can expect a lot of high-octane action from Farcry 6 in a new setting and new features.

8. Gran Tourismo 7


Gran Tourismo 7 is an upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive developed by Polyphony Digital. Exact release date for Gran Tourismo 7 is not known but it is expected to launch in the first half of 2021. Gran Tourismo 7 will make full use of PlayStation 5's ray-tracing hardware and DualSense controller to give players an immersive gameplay experience.

9. Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Developed and published by Ember Lab, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an upcoming singleplayer, action-adventure game that was delayed to the due COVID19 pandemic. The game was supposed to launch in 2020 but it has been delayed until March 2021. The game will be launched on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The game's protagonist Kena is a spirit guide who uses her magical abilities to help spirits move on from physical realm to the spirit realm.

10. Little Nightmares 2


Little Nightmares 2 is an upcoming horror game from Taiser Studios that is scheduled to release on February 11, 2021, for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S. It is the sequel to Little Nightmares (2017) with a new playable character Mono. Throughout the game, Mono will explore places like the School, the Hospital, the Signal Tower and encounter new characters like the Hunter, the Teacher, the Students, the Patients, the Living Hands, the Ghost, the Doctor, the Viewers, and the Thin Man himself.

11. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is one of the most popular Prince of Persio game titles from Ubisoft. The Sands of Time Remake was announced back in September and it was originally scheduled to release in January 2021 but due to development issues, the date was pushed forward to March 18, 2021. The game features enhanced graphics, soundtrack, and gameplay with a modern touch. The game is already available for pre-order.
