AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs based on Zen 3 microarchitecture announced

The best and the fastest yet

AMD has announced their Ryzen 5000 series CPU's based on its latest Zen 3 microarchitecture. All four CPUs will be available worldwide on November 5. AMD says that the new 7nm Zen 3 architecture core is their fastest and best design among the Zen series.

Compared to the current Ryzen 3000XT series, these new processors are offering up to 26 percent increase in performance in gaming and a 19 percent improvement in instructions per cycle. These Ryzen 5000 Series desktop CPUs are drop-in ready on 500 series motherboards with a simple BIOS update.

Here's what AMD's 4 newly launched CPUs look like

AMD announced 4 new CPU's- Ryzen 5 5600X, Ryzen 7 5800X, Ryzen 9 5900X, and Ryzen 9 5950X.

Ryzen 5 5600X

The 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 5600X is the entry level model offering 3.7GHz and 4.6GHz base and boost speeds respectively and features 35MB of cache memory with a 65W TDP rating. Ryzen 5 5600X is priced at $299.

Ryzen 7 5800X

The Ryzen 7 5800X is an 8-core, 16-thread model with base and boost speeds of 3.8GHz and 4.7GHz respectively and has 36MB of cache memory memory with a 105W TDP rating. Ryzen 7 5800X is priced at $449.

Ryzen 9 5900X

The 12-core, 24-thread Ryzen 9 5900X has a base speed of 3.7GHz and a boost speed of 4.8GHz and 70MB of cache memory with a 105W TDP rating. Ryzen 9 5900X is priced at $549.

Ryzen 9 5950X

The top-end Ryzen 9 5950X features 16 cores and 32 threads with base and boost speeds of 3.4GHz and 4.9GHz respectively and 72MB of total cache memory with a 105W TDP rating. Ryzen 5 5950X is priced at $799.

These new chips offer fierce competition to Intel's core i9-10900K model which Intel dubbed as “the world’s fastest gaming processor.” While Intel still beats AMD at clock speeds, AMD's new chips offer improved power efficiency and a higher core and thread count. AMD also claims that their Ryzen 9 5900X beats Intel’s i9-10900K in head-to-head performance for a wide range of titles like DOTA2, CS:GO, Battlefield V, and Far Cry New Dawn.

AMD also announced it's new next-generation "Big Navi" RX 6000 GPU's which will be officially launched on October 28th to go along with these newly launched CPUs.

All four CPUs will be available worldwide on November 5. Also, if you buy a Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9 model from the new Ryzen 5000 series or the previous-gen Ryzen 9 3950X, Ryzen 9 3900XT, or Ryzen 7 3800XT between October 20 and December 31, 2020, you will be eligible to receive a free digital copy of Far Cry 6 - Standard Edition.
