Intel Core i9-11900K leaks hints at another mediocre generation of processors from Intel
Intel's anticipated next-generation line of processors 11th gen: codenamed- Rocket Lake series of processors will be another 14nm chip, but this time with a 20% increase in Instructions per Cycle (IPC) as the new line up will be based on the Willow Cove architecture.
With it's launch in early 2021, fans are expecting Intel to make a comeback with 11th Gen in terms of being the best as Intel's current 10th gen cannot hold up against the 7nm based AMD Zen3 processors.
Data miners have come up with benchmark performance leaks of the upcoming 16-thread i9-11900K, and things are not looking so exciting, however take these leaks with a pinch of salt as Intel has officially not confirmed anything.
Will 11th Gen be another mediocre lineup of processors?
A popular data miner whose Twitter handle goes by the name of 'davidbepo' has shared the specs of the upcoming flagship 11th Gen processor: i9 11900K.
The leaked specs of Intel i9 11900K are as follows:
Base Clock: 3.5 GHz
Turbo 1 Core TVB [Thermal Velocity Boost]: 5.3 GHz
Turbo 8 Core TVB: 4.8 GHz
Power Limit Base Clock [PL1]: 125 W
Power Limit Boost Clock [PL2]: 250 W
The specs of the i9 11900K are pretty similar to the i9 10900K. The 11900K goes up to 5.3 GHz on a single core and 4.8 GHz on all cores which is identical to the 5.3 / 4.9 rating of the i9 10900K. In addition, the PL1 and PL2 values are identical to the 10900K.
Looking at these leaks it looks like we won't see a considerable increase in performance with the 11th Gen processors and if these leaks are true then we are looking at another medicore line of processors that makes AMD a better option.
